Short description:
The vineyards of Arad County are almost completely clustered in the Miniș – Măderat wine area, one of the oldest vineyard areas in Romania, occupying steady, long-earned positions on the hills to the Western side of the Zărand Mountains, spread over an area of about 50 km in length and a width of 1 to 4 km.
Countless archeological and historical pieces of evidence show that winemaking has always played an essential part in the locals’ life. The oldest historical documentation of the Arad vineyards date back to the first half of the 11th century; the winemaking culture of these lands is also mentioned in “Deliberation”, a document which was created in 1046 in the princedom of Athum, successor of Glad, ruler in the area of the Criș rivers.
ELITE WINE, a private company with joint Romanian and Austrian capital is located in the northern area of the Miniș-Măderat vineyard area, in a remarkably picturesque scenery, with gentle heights, slight slopes and wooded areas, marked by two proud sequoia trees over 35 metres in height, brought here in 1845, and, last but not least, by the ancient fortress of Șiria.
From the very beginning, producing quality wines was its motto and, although our history is not a very long one, by paying attention to every single detail we have managed to earn an important place on the wine market in just a few years.
Those who have the opportunity to not only become closely acquainted with the wines’ chemical composition, but also notice, cherish and remember its features and the sensory subtleties of its quality, resulted from said composition, will undoubtedly realise that there is a very limited number of locations which could produce, as Elite Wine does, wines of such remarkable quality.
Not least, it is said of the Miniș-Măderat vineyard area that it is one of the pearls of Romanian winemaking, as the start of an ancient Wine Road whose history, recognition and value we attempt to thus bring back to light in our times.
