Short description:
Caraman Estate, a winery located in the heart of the Murfatlar Vineyard, right on the top of the Chalk Hill which houses the oldest known Christian ensemble in Romania: The chalk churches of Murfatlar (Bisericile din Cretă de la Murfatlar), built in the caves of the hill in 992, bring to the landscape of the Romanian wine industry a new breath and the ambition to give a new grandeur to the Murfatlar name, which represents one of the oldest and most respected Romanian wine-growing areas.
From the moment we purchased the vineyards, we made the most of our decades of experience in Dobrogean agriculture to bring them back to their optimal potential, both in terms of yield, but especially in terms of grape quality. The grapes chosen for the vinification and bottling process are carefully selected and prepared so that the final result represents only the best Murfatlar Vineyard can offer, all under the careful supervision of the winery's winemaker, Mr. Nicolae Itu, one of Romania's top winemakers, creator over time of some of the most famous Murfatlar wines.
