Record for Romania at Concours Mondial de Bruxelles – 52 Medals for Romanian Wines

Romania achieved a remarkable result at the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles – Rosé Session 2025, held for the first time in the country, in Constanța. Romanian wines won a total of 52 medals, thus setting an absolute record for the country’s participation in an international wine competition.

Following the judging process, Romania was awarded 3 Grand Gold Medals, 20 Gold Medals, and 29 Silver Medals. This result places the country in fourth position in the global ranking of medal-winning countries, right after France, Italy, and Spain – the established leaders of the wine industry. The performance confirms not only the quality of locally produced rosé wines but also the growing maturity of the Romanian wine sector as a whole.

The success is all the more significant as this year’s edition marked a premiere for Romania: it is the first time the Rosé Session of the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles has been hosted by a Romanian city. The choice of Constanța and, by extension, the Dobrogea region as host of the competition was no coincidence. In recent years, Dobrogea has emerged as a wine region with growing potential, thanks to its favorable climate, diverse soils, and consistent investment in technology and know-how.

Romania’s participation in this prestigious competition and the results obtained contribute to strengthening the international image of local rosé wines. At the same time, they send a clear message to consumers and professionals alike: Romanian wines are ready to assert themselves on global markets through expressiveness, balance, and refinement.

About the Concours Mondial de Bruxelles
The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles is a global benchmark in wine competitions. Its independence, strict standards, and tasting procedures offer consumers the confidence to purchase medal-winning wines with complete trust. The CMB rules are rigorous and comply with the regulations of the International Organisation of Vine and Wine (OIV) regarding the number of medals, which must not exceed 30% of the total number of samples. The Concours Mondial de Bruxelles was established in 1994 in Brussels, Belgium, and after 20 editions, became a traveling competition, hosted by the most renowned wine regions in the world. In 2020, the CMB was divided into several sessions, one dedicated to red and white wines, one to rosé wines, one to sparkling wines, and one to sweet and fortified wines.
