Finally, feteasca

Although any website says only words of praise about this old Romanian variety, I've heard several wine experts muttering about that. Feteasca Alba is blamed mainly for its discreet flavour. Its flavour is so discreet that wine makers have felt the need to enhance it by adding a little bit of ottonel 5-10% or Sauvignon Blanc. Given the current fashion when it comes to these wines, which are meant to seduce us from the very beginning, maybe it's no wonder ...

I've recently had the opportunity to taste a well done Feteasca Alba, maybe one of the best wines of this variety that I have drunk so far: Fetească Alba 2013 S.E.R.V.E.

Feteasca Alba S.E.R.V.E.

It is a fragrant wine, with delicate notes of white flowers and intense tones of white rose petals. The wine has perfect balance, as well as structure and amplitude. The aftertaste is dominated by white peach and citrus flavors. The vineyards where this wine comes from were planted in 1967; therefore, they are 47 years old, and 20% of the wine was fermented in oak barrel. Perhaps this is where the extraordinary gustatory structure of this wine originates from.

I knew that this wine would go well with unctuous and stout containing dishes, and while waiting for my favorite dish - eggplant salad - I associated it with new beet salad and asparagus.

I still look forward to the holidays and eggplants.
